So cool seeing Matsui getting that warm embrace from his old teammates! Probably wasn't even expecting it. You could tell that guy got a lot of respect from that clubhouse
One of Matsui's first interviews as a Yankee, he said one of the first things he wanted to see in NY was Ground Zero, to pay his respects. That said a lot about him as a person!
can't believe yanks didn't bring back the world series mvp - it was really disappointing... even though I am a yankee fan for life - i am very bitter about the way he was treated... should have been given a 2 year extension and be allowed to retire a yankee without having to move to other teams... was one of my favorite yankees. very humble and very professional.
Matsui revealed in his Players Tribune article that Jeter switched out the ring Matsui was supposed to get with one of the replicas they were giving out to fans. Matsui didn’t notice so when he goes back to the dugout to proudly show it off to all his teammates he’s showing off probably some cheap bronze ring.
How the Yanks couldn't figure out how to keep him there during free agency, I will never understand. Still glad though that he had a great season with the Angels as well as the Yankees signing him to a 1 day contract so that he could retire in pin stripes in 2013.
The sad part is that the Angels currently have 2 of the best generational players in the league ( Trout and Ohtani) but still can't make the playoffs because the rest of the team sucks.
they didn't trade him... he left in free agency when the Yankees called to negotiate his next contract they had nothing prepared and he felt insulted by that fact and signed with the angels
World Series MVP *Traded immediately* -___- Effing dumbass baseball logic that we see all the time. "OMG WE WON IT ALL WE BETTER DUMP ALL OUR TALENT LMAO"

I will forever love Hideki Matsui.

awww u can see how bittersweet the moment is for matsui, having to accept it as an angel

松井の功績だって一生色褪せない!
makes sense he was our guardian Angel for the Yankees what a guy
Beautiful moment
I miss him already but want a legend he was
Matsui was always so classy as a yank on and off the field. He deserved better from Yanks
I agree he should have been resigned the following year. Big time player.
Brian cashman screwing everything up
A very moving moment for a great YANKEE!
Love the Yogi and Jeter interaction

*If they had brought Matsui back in 2010, they would've repeated as World Series champions.*
It's a pity that Wang can't appear in this classic video, although he only played 12 games due to injury.
Love how all the Angels players wanna see his ring since they probably will never see one. Unless they get traded of course lol

Could never understand how they traded him , when George passed away his sons destroyed that team
